While Wheeler remained hospitalized, a GoFundMe page was set up to raise money to assist his family. By early evening Thursday, nearly $6,000 had been donated.
Lisbon man dies following collision with garbage truck
According to the Crosman Funeral Home website, a celebration of Wheeler’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Berean Baptist Church, 15 Cumberland St., Brunswick.
At about 6:19am, Wheeler was driving west on Route 196, which was covered with snow at the time, when he veered over the center line and was clipped by an eastbound garbage truck. Wheeler and his passenger Donald Schafer, 48, were both injured and taken to the hospital. Wheeler was in critical condition following the accident, and eight days later on February 17, 2015, he died in the hospital.
