3 Baltimore firefighters hurt in car fire explosion.

Firefighters taken to hospitals with injuries, officials say.

A fire official said three Baltimore firefighters were injured in a small explosion sparked by a car fire.

A fire department spokesman said firefighters were called to a car fire at North Calvert and East Pleasant streets on Wednesday night when something in the car exploded.

Brennan said three firefighters were hurt and taken to local hospitals, but their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Other firefighters remaining at the scene extinguished the car fire.
