Beltway crash leaves two children seriously injured Sunday - WTOP

WASHINGTON — A serious crash on the Inner Loop of the Beltway in Montgomery County has left two young children in serious condition. Montgomery County Fire officials say two children, ages 3 and 8, were seriously hurt in the crash. Follow @WTOP on Twitter and WTOP on Facebook. The crash, involving an overturned vehicle, occurred  between Connecticut Avenue and Georgia Avenue around 10 a.m. on Sunday. Officials say the crash was likely weather-related.

Beltway crash expected to impact Redskins game traffic

The slowdowns occurred as many were prepping to head to the Washington Redskins’ playoff game at FedEx Field in Landover. Piringer said a spate of crashes have slowed traffic on or near the Beltway for much of the morning, amid persistent rain, wind and reduced visibility. Sunday, leaving an 8-year-old with “serious, potentially life-threatening” injuries and a 3-year-old with serious injuries as well. A car overturned on the Beltway late Sunday morning, sending three to the hospital and closing all but one lane of the inner loop between Connecticut and Georgia avenues. He said there have been at least a dozen significant crashes across the county since 2:30 a.m., mostly in the area of the Beltway.
