The driver, 32-year-old Dominique R. Taylor, lost control of the car about 4:30 a.m. and veered off the side of the road, hitting several trees, a preliminary investigation revealed.

According to NBC Washington, 23-year-old Cornell “Dante” Simon, of Oxon Hill, was taken off life support Monday and died as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash.

The announcement from the Prince George’s State’s Attorney comes nearly three months after a Chrysler Pacific van veered off of Crain Highway in Bowie early February.

Taylor, 33, pleaded guilty to six counts of motor vehicle manslaughter and will be sentenced Jan. 13. She is facing anywhere from one to 30 years in prison.
