I really think that PG County needs to put more sidewalks near that rehab facility , I have been living off of stuart ln since 2010 and over the years I've seen Many people that are in wheelchairs in the middle of the street some people wheel chairs just break down in the middle of street I have seen people fall asleep in the wheelchair in the middle Street, and the people in the wheelchairs are seen late at night where its really dark there for people that are driving can not see them coming around the corner, sometimes drivers have to ride on the wrong side of the street just to avoid the wheelchairs.

This was an accident waiting to happen! My husband and I live behind the nursing home and have almost hit countless of men in their wheelchairs. I don't understand why there are NO sidewalks on Stuart Lane. It should be illegal to NOT have sidewalks. Anytime you force a pedestrian to walk in the street when there is clearly space for a sidewalk is insane! I pray for this man's family. Someone always has to get hurt or killed for change to take place.

It’s not just sad and unsafe for the residents who reside at the nursing home but also for the people who work in live in the community. I have seen countless CHILDREN are forced to walk to and from the Metro stop after they get out of school walk because there is NO sidewalk. Anyone who travels this road via vehicle or walk knows how dangerous this is. People who aren’t filmier with this area don’t know that people walk in the street or know the posted speed limit. Now the nursing home wants to give out vest now that someone had been killed c’mon man!!! I use to call Stuart Ln Road Kill Road due to the cats raccoons and other critters killed sadly a human life has been added. RIP Sir! :(

I was the fourth car to arrive on the scene Friday evening to see this tragic accident. It is dark and the pedestrian was in dark colored clothing. As mentioned above, this was an accident waiting to happen. I have lived off of Stuart lane since 1998 and even with all the new homes built, "two new developments," there are no sidewalks and NO cross walks where the accident occurred. The news and media report that the police are working to determine if person was in crosswalk. If the news reporters took a moment to come to the street, it is obvious there are no cross walks or sidewalks. In the mornings, you see the residents driving to work and parents walking small kids in the streets to take their kids to the bus stop with heavy traffic going both ways. It is a shame and clearly the fault of PG county and rehab facility to not DEMAND the developers build and provide the right access for pedestrians (wheel chair patients and kids) to travel up and down Stuart Lane. Both the driver and the family of the victim should sue on the grounds of negligence!!!! The driver and his family have to live with this forever and the rehab place should have demanded the basic amenities since these wheel chairs folks travel this road for years. God bless those hurt, including the innocent residents to witness it!

S. Perry you hit the nail on the head with your comment. Yes someone should sue PG county there is NO excuse for this and the nursing home is just as guilty, they are putting profit over someone life. I’ve seen a dead cat in front of the facility for over a week now isn’t that unhealthy seeing that they call that place a nursing home!!! Yes it might be a little inconvenient due to construction but isn’t someone’s life worth it. No crosswalk and poorly lit the management at the nursing home doesn’t care because this doesn’t affect them.
