One Dead, Three Hurt as Truck Hit in Side.

Maryland State Police said one person was killed and three others injured when a truck trying to cross Route 15 in Emmitsburg was hit by an oncoming car Sunday afternoon.

Maryland State Police said one person was killed and three others injured when a truck trying to cross Route 15 in Emmitsburg was hit by an oncoming car Sunday afternoon.

Troopers said a Ford truck on Motter’s Station Road attempted to cross northbound Route 15 when it was struck in the side by a Ford Explorer. The driver of the truck, Charles Stambaugh, 87, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Explorer, Mary Hilton, 44, and two other people were injured in the accident. They were taken to Gettysburg Hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
