Gaithersburg police arrested three men Sunday after they led officers on a car chase that ended with the men crashing into a tree.

Gaithersburg police arrested three men Sunday after they led officers on a car chase that ended with the men crashing into a tree.

According to the department, police officers attempted to pull over a silver Toyota Camry in the area of W. Diamond Avenue and Bureau Drive on Sunday, after witnessing the driver commit more than one traffic violation. Officers said they suspected the driver may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The driver refused to stop the car, leading officers through the parking lots of several businesses and then onto Firstfield Road to the 1200 block of Orchard Boulevard.

It was there that the driver reportedly lost control of the car and crashed into a tree.

Upon investigation, it was discovered the car had been reported stolen out of Frostburg, Md.

A search of the vehicle also yielded a .40-caliber Glock handgun and various dangerous controlled substances and paraphernalia, as well as alcohol containers.

The driver and his two passengers were arrested. They have been identified as Dimetri Johnuel Zevon Frank, 20, of Keswick Place in Frederick; Daniel Kion Garrison, 21, of Heather Ridge Drive in Frederick; and Jamal Dashawn Harris of Waterford Drive in Frederick.

Garrison and Harris were charged with handgun and drug-related charges. Frank was charged with auto theft-related charges.

Frank, Garrison and Harris are currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
