Bicyclist fatally struck by car at intersection at Veirs Mill Road in Rockville
The collision occurred when the bicyclist attempted to cross Veirs Mill Road in a northbound direction, and was struck by a Honda traveling east, according to police.
The bicyclist was transported to the hospital, where he died of his injuries .

In December, Frank Towers, 19, was struck and killed by an SUV as he tried to cross the intersection on his bike. Then, another fatal crash occurred this past weekend. A 31-year old bicyclist, Oscar Gutierrez Osorio, died after being struck by a car Sunday.

The flashers “are insufficient to address the problem since they require motorists to slow down and exercise caution but not to stop,” the letter said. “Drivers continue to exceed the 40-mph speed limit even when the light signal is activated. At these speeds, a collision with a pedestrian or bicyclist is almost certainly fatal.”
