UPDATE: Endicott student killed in Beverly crash

"He brought life, energy and smiles to all our faces and will be greatly missed by our entire community," said college President Richard Wylie in a statement released to campus.

Sampson was the passenger in a BMW that crashed into a utility pole on Hale Street around 12:15 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital. 

Vermont man pleads not guilty in deadly Massachusetts crash

Castano's passenger, 19-year-old Endicott student Craig Sampson, died. Both men are from Williston, Vermont.

Castano's lawyer says his client is devastated by his friend's death.

Driver pleads guilty in Beverly crash that killed friend

Police said Castano’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. The judge sentenced him to three-and-a-half years in the House of Correction. The families of both men were in court with many of them crying.
