Hit-and-run victim in Boston dragged by vehicle for miles, police say

The woman dragged by the vehicle was still alive Monday evening but suffered "traumatic" injuries, according to the Boston Globe. The female victim was lodged under the vehicle as it continued toward Dorchester, Mass. The man followed Zhou and called 911, and Zhou was stopped by police about a half-mile later. The Globe reports Zhou told police she did not know the woman was under her vehicle and didn't understand it was handling poorly. The Boston Herald reports witnesses could see the victim's legs dangling underneath the SUV. "A witness heard what he believed to be a car alarm," Assistant District Attorney Kristina Kerwin tells the Herald.

Driver arrested for allegedly hitting couple, dragging woman 3 miles

Xaianying Zhou, 44, of Sandwich, was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a collosion causing personal injury, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. She was arraigned Monday, and her bail was set at $5,000, authorities said.

"It was horrible, it was horrific," said Lizzy Amas, who saw the woman being dragged. Amas thought she was looking at an animal or bag beneath the white Toyota, but soon realized it was a person.
