Worcester woman seriously injured in Marlborough crash

The Haverhill man and Worcester woman were transported by two medical helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center – Universtiy Campus in Worcester “due to the severity of their injuries,” police said.
Two people were transported to UMass in Worcester after a major crash Thursday morning. A tractor trailer had stopped in the left lane of I-290 in Marloborough and was backing up when it was hit from behind by a 1998 Subaru Forester, driven by a 37-year-old Haverhill man. According to Massachusetts state police, the Subaru was then struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by a 58-year-old Charlton man. The Haverhill man and his passenger, a 34-year-old Worcester woman were airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center – Universtiy Campus in Worcester with severe injuries. The Charlton man was taken to Marlborough Hospital with minor injuries, and the tractor-trailer driver was not hurt. We'll update this post as more information becomes available.
