One woman killed, two others injured in 7-car crash on Route 95 in Norwood, Massachusetts

State police say one person was killed and two others seriously injured in an overnight crash in Norwood involving seven vehicles.

State police say three consecutive crashes occurred at the same spot on Route 95 at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

It began when one car lost control, struck the guardrail and spun around. The driver was critically injured when his car was hit by an oncoming vehicle. That vehicle was driven by a woman who suffered severe injuries. She was pronounced dead at a hospital. Her passenger also suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition.

The circumstances of the crash, including what caused the initial car to strike the guardrail and spin around, are under investigation.

The victim's identity hasn't been released.
