Plymouth Police Officer Dies After Motorcycle Crash.

A Plymouth police officer who was injured in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon has died. The crash happened on Samoset Street at about 3:00 p.m.

A Plymouth police officer who was injured in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon has died. The crash happened on Samoset Street at about 3:00 p.m.

Colonel Timothy Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, identified the officer as Gregg Maloney. “The @MassStatePolice offer sincere condolences to the Family of Officer Gregg Maloney & our brothers and sisters at the Plymouth PD,” Colonel Alben wrote in a tweet.

Maloney, who was on duty at the time, was traveling westbound on Samoset when he was somehow knocked off his motorcycle. The motorcycle came to a rest about a quarter mile down the road.

State Police are investigating the crash.

Maloney was transported to Mass General Hospital in Boston by medical helicopter where he was later pronounced dead.

Fellow officers escorted Maloney’s body from MGH to the medical examiner’s office. Many local departments lined the street to salute the fallen officer.
