Driver killed after car strikes tree in Salem
...the car nearly splitting in half as it went into the tree.

A Salem man was killed Sunday morning after his car collided with a tree. The driver lost control on Highland Avenue and swerved off the road before hitting the tree. The victim was the only person in the vehicle and was taken from the scene to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
