ATV crash in Ludlow kills Belchertown rider Thomas Brown

Brown was alone on the ATV at the time of the accident and was not wearing a helmet. Police have no idea how long Brown may have been under the vehicle before a motorist saw him and called police.
Ludlow police say a 27-year-old Belchertown man was killed early Saturday morning when the all terrain vehicle he was riding on Miller Street in Ludlow overturned and landed on top of him. Ludlow Police Sgt. David Belanger said Thomas Brown was transported to the Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Belanger said police received a 911 call just before 1 a.m. from a passerby reporting the crash. He said Brown was apparently riding his Polaris ATV on Miller Street near Center Street, a flat, open area, when the vehicle somehow overturned. Brown was alone on the ATV at the time of the accident and was not wearing a helmet. Police have no idea how long Brown may have been under the vehicle before a motorist saw him and called police. Belanger said the state Environmental Police will conduct an investigation.
