Drummer, roadie from Northampton band The Alchemystics die in car crash

The Western Massachusetts music scene is in mourning following the deaths of a roadie and the drummer for a local reggae band in a traffic crash.

Van accident kills associate of Northampton-based Alchemystics band, leaves drummer in critical condition

Brian White, also known as “Budzy,” who is described as a “family member” of the band, died in the accident, and Zullo was in critical condition at the time of the posting about 11 p.m. Sunday.

The Alchemystics formed in 2003, and have carved a steady fanbase for themselves throughout the past ten years. The band blends reggae, hip-hop, soul, and rock elements to create their identfiable sound. Zullo founded the band alongside bassist Garrett Sawyers, and have brought incredibly talented artists in a continuing effort to produce socially conscious music and art.
Brian White was driving a van east on the Massachusetts Turnpike when the van went out of control and rolled over on the median. White died at the scene, and Todd "Demse" Zullo died several days later. Zullo was the drummer for a local reggae band called The Alchemystics, and White was a roadie for the band. The accident is still under investigation.
