Police say 55-year-old LuAnn Woodrick of Galien was driving east on U.S. 12, and 52-year-old Jeffrey Norman of Granger was driving westbound.
Authorities believe one of the cars crossed the center line around 6:47 a.m., leading them to hit head-on.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their cars, and both were taken to the hospital.
Norman was treated for minor injuries, but Woodrick was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Galien woman killed in U.S. 12 crash
Woodrick was the Clinical Assistant Professor/Lab Coordinator in the School of Nursing in the Dwyer College.
IUSB School of Nursing issued statement after learning of Woodrick's death.
"LuAnn was a valued member of the faculty since coming to IU South Bend in 1998 as an adjunct lecturer in Nursing," the IUSB School of Nursing said. "We want to remember her service to her students, the campus, and her profession during this time."
