Woman dies after head-on crash with box truck in Lapeer County

Along with freezing rain and high winds, Parks said the fact that Bissett's front tires were badly worn may have contributed to the crash.
Robin Bissett of Deckerville was driving southbound on Van Dyke Road just north of Linck Road in Burnside Township, near Brown City, when a strong wind coming from an open field pushed her pickup truck across the road and into oncoming traffic, where she was hit head-on by a box truck. Her truck landed in a ditch on the west side of the road, and the box truck landed in a west side ditch. Bissett was taken to McLaren Lapeer Regional Medical Center, where she died at 6:50 p.m. that day, police said. The box truck driver, Denny Moore, 44, of Cortland, Ohio, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Freezing drizzle and black ice contributed to the crash. The accident is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Parks at 810-245-1381 or at jparks@lapeercounty.org.
