The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body of missing kayaker Kyle Shinske was found in Swan Creek Sunday morning. Deputies were called around 6 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of an abandoned vehicle with a kayak rack and a paddle lying near the launch area. Authorities looked for the owner of the vehicle when they learned that he had reportedly gone bird hunting and fishing out of his kayak earlier in the day. Michigan State Police then searched the area with their helicopter while marine and dive units searched the water by boat. Authorities say they found the body of the missing victim, 27-year-old Kyle Shinske of South Haven, around 6 a.m. Sunday morning in Swan Creek. The initial investigation indicates the drowning occurred as the result of a boating accident.
