Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after hitting cow

Deputies say Mark Olmstead, 57, from Stanton was driving his motorcycle east on Sidney Road near Hillman Road when he hit a black cow that was in the road around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses say they saw the cow and chased it from the road, but the cow re-entered the road and was hit before they had a chance to return to their vehicle. Olmstead sustained multiple injuries and was flown to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids by AeroMed where he is listed in stable condition.
