Timothy Hiemstra, 40, killed, after he fails to stop at the intersection of 7 Mile Road and Pine Island Drive in Plainfield Township, and crashes into a tree.

A man died after crashing his car into a tree at the intersection of 7 Mile Road and Pine Island Drive late Thursday night. Kent County sheriff’s deputies and the Plainfield Township Fire Department responded to the wreck around 11:20 p.m. Thursday. Timothy Hiemstra, 40, of Sparta was driving east on 7 Mile Road when he failed to stop for the stop sign at Pine Island Drive, according to police. Hiemstra’s vehicle went through the intersection and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
