Police said the driver of the car lost control and hit a tree on Russell Road, south of Owasippe Road in Twin Lake around 11:15 p.m. Sunday.

The woman who died was a passenger in the 1999 Dodge Durango. The driver is a 37-year-old Montague man. Also in the vehicle were a 28-year-old Shelby woman and a 34-year-old Newaygo man, Brown said. All three who survived the crash, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m., suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Brown said. One individual was taken to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon.
