Passenger hurt, driver unhurt in crash.

One of two people were injured when their vehicle went off a road and crashed into a tree in Cass County.

One of two people were injured when their vehicle went off a road and crashed into a tree in Cass County. The vehicle wrecked along westbound Gage Street, just west of Twin Lakes Road, in Wayne Township, northeast of Dowagiac, around 7:24 p.m. Monday. The driver, 32-year-old Harley Rose from Dowagiac, told police he lost control of his vehicle, according to a news release, but police did not say why. He was not hurt. Rose’s passenger, 52-year-old Heriberto Contreras from Dowagiac, was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment to minor injuries. It is unknown if the occupants wore seat belts at the time of the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
