Former MSU hockey coach identified as victim of hit and run

The vehicle had been southbound on Second Street before it turned into the westbound lane of Walnut Street and left the scene. Mankato police have identified Donald Brose, the former Minnesota State University men's hockey coach, as the person who was hit by a car just before noon Friday in downtown Mankato. Brose, 75, was struck by what police believe was a small to mid-size brown SUV while crossing South Second Street near Walnut Street. Police are still searching for the driver who hit Brose. Brose was head coach of MSU's hockey team from 1969 to 2000.
