2 killed in Rice County crash; now 4 deaths on icy Minnesota roads this week

Two people were killed before dawn Tuesday in a two-vehicle collision in southern Minnesota.

2 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Broadside Crash in SE Minnesota

The incident happened on Highway 21 at County Road 61 in Rice County at 5:50 a.m.
A fatal accident happened about 5:50 a.m. Tuesday northwest of Faribault, when a car slid on icy Hwy. 21 into the path of another car heading in the opposite direction. Killed were the driver of the out-of-control car, Abdirahman Abdi, 35, of Noel, Mo., and one of his two passengers, Said I. Abdi, 34, of Kansas City, Mo. Another passenger, Rahma B. Ibrahim, 24, of Schuyler, Neb., was being treated at North Memorial Medical Center for serious injuries. The driver of the other car, Justin T. Francis, 37, of St. Peter, Minn., was not injured. The car from Missouri was heading west on Hwy. 21 near County Road 61, when the driver lost control and struck the oncoming car broadside.
