Blaine Man Dies When Motorcycle Crashes Near Little Canada

A Blaine man was killed Wednesday when his motorcycle struck a car on Interstate 35E, the State Patrol said.

Officers responded to the crash at about 12:03 p.m. on Interstate 35E near Highway 36. When they arrived, an investigation showed that a 2002 Audi S4 was heading northbound in the left lane of I-35E near County Road B when a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Investigators say Nelson swerved into the right lane to pass, and when he attempted to move back into the left lane he clipped the passenger side of the vehicle. At that point Nelson lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected.
The fatal collision occurred at 12:03 p.m. on I-35E north at Minnesota Highway 36 near Little Canada. Robert Nelson, 23, was killed. A car driven by Owen Duncanson, 57, of White Bear Lake, was traveling north in the left lane of the interstate near County Road 36. Nelson was traveling fast, changed lanes, and hit the passenger side of the car. Nelson lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected.
