Fatal rollover crash closes lanes on Mendota Bridge

Rush hour traffic was being diverted off Hwy. 55 at Hwy. 5 near Fort Snelling, Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic cameras show.

Minnesota State Patrol Investigating Fatal Rollover on Mendota Bridge

The crash was reported at 7:23 a.m. The state patrol says the car rolled on eastbound Minnesota Highway 55. The area is near south Minneapolis. Two people were in the car.

The woman was driving when her car rolled on the bridge, killing her. Her name has yet to be released.

A passenger in the car, a 24-year-old man from St. Paul, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.

Then came two single-person fatal crashes: a morning rush-hour rollover on the Mendota Bridge that snarled traffic for a couple of hours and killed driver Angelica Serrata, 24, of St. Paul, followed by a semitrailer truck hitting a 55-year-old Minneapolis man on foot, causing a 90-minute shutdown of Interstate 94 near downtown Minneapolis.
