The state patrol says 24-year-old Cody Swanson was driving on Cannon River Avenue off of Highway 61 around 4:30 a.m. when he ran off the road. He then hit a tree, the state patrol says.

A Farmington man died after his car hit a tree in Red Wing on Saturday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The state patrol says the 24-year-old man was driving on Cannon River Avenue off of Highway 61 around 4:30 a.m. when he ran off the road. He then hit a tree, the state patrol says.
The state patrol says it was a single car accident. His identity has not been released until officers are able to notify family.
The Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Goodhue County Sheriff's Office and the Red Wing Police Department are assisting.
