3 children dead, driver still at large in crash

Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, and crashed into a sign.

Troopers said the driver then left the vehicle and ran into the woods.

After the wreck, officials say Dickerson left the vehicle, running into some nearby woods. Officers, as well as family members of the driver, worked together to locate him.

Children, teen killed in Lucedale crash identified

The 23-year-old is charged with four felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death. Investigators said he was behind the wheel when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a sign in Lucedale.

He ran from a crash that killed three children. Now, he’s facing murder charges.

Jesse Edward Dickerson, 24, was indicted on three counts of second-degree murder for allegedly causing the March 25, 2017, crash that killed three siblings and seriously injured a Lucedale police officer.
