"We don't know what made him veer left," Husband said. "Most people in that kind of situation almost always veer to the right."

Woman killed in 3-vehicle Stone County crash

Blake W. Hunter, of St. Amant, Louisiana, was trapped in his pickup and fire-rescue teams used the Jaws of Life to free him. Hunter was airlifted to Forrest General Hospital.
On Thursday evening, 18-year-old John Wayne Freret of Wiggins was stopped in a Dodge station wagon in the eastbound lane of Highway 26 behind a vehicle that was waiting to turn off the highway. At this time, 53-year-old Blake W. Hunter of St. Amant, Louisinana, was approaching Freret's car from the rear in a Chevrolet pickup. Hunder wasn't able to slow in time to stop, and he tried to avoid rear-ending Freret's car but veered left into oncoming traffic instead of veering right. The pickup clipped the rear corner of Freret's car, then collided head-on with a westbound Chevy Impala driven by Deeonica Tramaine Goss, 34, of Wiggins. Goss died at the scene. Hunter was airlifted by helicopter to Forrest General Hospital. Freret was apparently uninjured but brought to Stone County Hospital as a precaution. A dog in Hunter's vehicle was taken by animal rescue.
