A child was struck by a car Tuesday morning and is said to be in critical condition. Emergency crews are on scene where a child was struck by a car in Jones County. The child was airlifted to Jackson and is said to be in critical condition. This is a developing story.

An 8-year-old is fighting for his life after being struck by a car on Highway 11 in Jones County. A child was struck by a car Tuesday morning and is said to be in critical condition. Brent Barfield. '€œThe child was struck by a Nissan Altima driven by Lori McNease of Moselle that was traveling southbound,'€ said Barfield. Air ambulance Rescue 7 was called to the scene to transport the child. '€œApparently the kid and sibling were on the east side of Hwy 11, waiting on a school bus. According to witnesses, the 8 year-old goes across Highway 11 and looks in the mail box, shuts the box and turns to come back across, and was struck by the car,'€ said Barfield.
