Fatal train accident: New information about why it happened
"What he was supposed to do was bring them to the store and bring them right back," said Rena and Rashod's mother, Latasha Gilmore. "But what I'm hearing, and there are all kinds of rumors, he was supposed to take them to the football game."
Police have identified the fatal victims of the Friday Hazlehurst train accident as Andrew Gilmore, believed to be in his 40's, and three-year-old Rashad Gilmore. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. A second boy, four-year-old Rena Gilmore, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told investigators that Andrew Gilmore was sitting along the tracks with the children when they were struck by the train around 6:15 p.m.
