Jackson police investigate deadly hit and run

Twenty-seven year old Chermen Lowe was walking with 20-year-old Ledarius Burks Thursday night on McDowell Road. Officer Colendula Green tells us around 11:30 they crossed the road and were waiting in the middle turn lane when the were hit by a vehicle from the eastbound lane. Police believe it may have been a S-U-V.

JPD investigates deadly hit and run on McDowell Road

Police say a person in an SUV was traveling east bound on McDowell Road when they hit both victims. Jackson police are investigating a deadly hit and run that happened on Thursday night. Both victims were transported to UMMC. Police say one victim suffered a broken leg and is expected to recover. Two pedestrians had been hit by a car while crossing the street. At 11:31 pm, JPD officers responded to McDowell Road near Belvedere Drive after a report of a crash with injuries.
