Hit-and-run driver kills McComb man, 33, in mom's presence

A McComb woman says a hit-and-run driver killed her son, who died just after she ran up to him. Sean Gill says dispatchers told officers to watch for a four-door, white Nissan Titan pickup truck, reportedly traveling east on Highway 98. She says the truck threw his body into the road, and she heard it run over her son. Bonnie Stewart tells The Enterprise-Journal that a white truck hit her 33-year-old son, Justin Lander as he stood on the shoulder Friday night of Highway 98.

I was not backing up to get back onto the Hwy i was parked right on the curb entering the Hwy facing it with my headlights on where any oncoming vehicle could clearly see a vehicle waiting to enter the lane once oncoming vehicle was clear .... My son Justin was less than four feet to the left of me within the shoulder of the road fixing to get into the vehicle with me when the speeding truck hit and killed him and continued speeding away

Thank you Bonnie for giving correct information. I've updated our accident report. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your son. I hope the hit-and-run driver is caught and that justice is served. Ingrid Taylor, Accident Data Center

Wow ,this is so sad and since they had the vehicle description ,you would think they would have found that truck asap,,I mean how difficult would it be to dispatch from all over by police and then shut roads down..My family comes from law enforcement and I know what all has to be done but I also know that not everything is done..As soon as dispatched ,all roads ,highways n back roads are blocked asap..What was the case I'm this report???
