Winter weather and icy roads are being blamed for a multiple wreck that left two people dead and a child injured.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal traffic accident Friday on Highway 72 in Alcorn County.

Two people were killed and a child injured in a crash on Highway 72 in Alcorn County Friday afternoon.

UPDATE: Names released of those killed in accident

Hill died at the scene of the accident.  Ramirez died at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Corinth.  Ramirez's son was first taken to the hospital in Corinth before being sent to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.  There is no word on his condition.
Two vehicles driving on U.S. 72 slid on a patch of ice and struck each other in a minor collision. As they were out of their vehicles checking damage, a semi-truck began to slide and lose control on the ice and crashed into the vehicles and people that were on the side of the road, leaving one woman dead at the scene. Another woman was pronounced dead after being brought to the hospital, and one 9-year-old boy sustained injuries and is in the hospital in stable condition.
