Booneville woman killed in Alcorn County wreck

A two-vehicle wreck on Highway 2 Friday morning claimed the life of a 63-year-old Booneville woman.
Peggy Phillips, 63, was driving at approximately 7:30 a.m. when her vehicle apparently crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and crashed nearly head-on with an SUV. Phillips and her passenger, Julie Smith, 45, were both taken to Magnolia Regional Medical Center. Phillips died at the hospital; Smith is listed in stable condition. Authorities say neither woman was wearing a seat belt. Arlene Settles, 41, was driving the SUV and was not injured.
