On Tuesday, the Jackson County prosecutor charged 22-year-old Andrew Stark with several charges including involuntary manslaughter and second degree assault after a fatal car collision on Monday.

A Jackson County jury on Monday convicted 24-year-old Andrew Stark of second-degree murder, assault and other charges. The crash in January 2014 killed 35-year-old Jason Lewis.

A suspect wanted on traffic charges crashed following a police chase Monday morning, killing one person and injuring two others in another vehicle.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. near the western city limits of Independence on 23rd Street. Police pursued the driver to the city limits.

The car crashed into another vehicle at 23rd and Hardesty after running a red light, killing Jason Lewis in the other car. Two others riding in the car that was struck were injured.

The suspect, Andrew Stark, fled the scene on foot and was arrested shortly after.
