Pedestrian struck in hit-and-run accident in Independence
The vehicle left the scene westbound on U.S. 40 Highway. It was described as a light-colored sedan, according to police.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Independence police are asking anyone with information to call 816-325-7300.

"He was a beautiful young man; everyone who met him loved him. He was sweet," said Winters.
Winters said her son, 38-year-old Derrick Hubbard, was hit and killed while walking home from work.
The Kansas City native is a husband and a father of four.
