Pedestrian fatally struck on Interstate 44 in St. Louis

Police say the crash happened early Tuesday on eastbound Interstate 44 at Kingshighway. The crash shut down eastbound lanes of the interstate for about two hours while police investigated. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1RXRBdl ) reports that the victim died at the scene and has not been identified. It wasn't immediately clear why the victim was on the interstate. The interstate was reopened around 6:30 a.m.
