Man dies in head-on crash between semi, pickup truck east of East Helena

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the eastbound semi veered into the path of a westbound pickup truck shortly after 8:30 p.m. Monday about 8 miles east of East Helena in Broadwater County.

Khan was driving a semi-truck eastbound when he crossed into the westbound lane at 8:39 p.m. between mile markers 56 and 57 and collided with a pickup truck driven by McFerrin, said Korthals and the Montana Highway Patrol.

The driver of a semi tractor-trailer has pleaded not guilty to negligent homicide for a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 12 east of East Helena. 
At around 8:36 p.m. Monday just outside East Helena, a semi-truck was eastbound on Highway 12 when it collided head-on with the pick up truck that was traveling west. The collision occurred in the westbound lane of the highway. The pickup driver, a 45-year-old Gregory McFerrin, was not wearing a seat belt and was killed. The 33-year-old driver of the semi-trailer, Asad Khan, was brought to St. Peter's Hospital with unknown injuries. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
