Two workers injured in accident on I-80 near Paxton

A Colorado man is in custody following an accident on I-80 that left two construction workers injured. A news release from the Nebraska State Patrol says two workers were struck on the freeway just west of Paxton just before 1:30p.m. The workers were struck by a vehicle described as a blue Saturn, and approximately 10 minutes later a trooper stopped a vehicle with right front damage and matching the description just west of the North Platte exit on eastbound I-80. The 18-year old male driver of the vehicle, Joe Marcos O'€™Connor Zubaite, Hesperus, Colo., was lodged in the Lincoln County Jail on charges of Reckless Driving and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. The two construction workers, who names are not being released at this time, were transported to Great Plains Health in North Platte, with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
