Police say a vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old, pulled in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision. Metro says speed was a factor in the crash. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. The 19-year-old rider of the motorcycle was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, but died a short time later. Metro says the rider did not have a motorcycle license. The 18-year-old only had an instruction permit, which requires a licensed driver over the age of 21 to also be in the vehicle. The teen, however, was alone in the car.

Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
