Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in North Las Vegas

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and the driver fled, Officer Aaron Patty said. Officers located the vehicle moments after the driver fled, Patty said. The crash occurred in the area of North 5th Street and Lone Mountain Road about noon. The area has been cordoned off while police investigate, and Patty said drivers should avoid the area. The pedestrian died at the scene.

Teen killed, driver arrested in North Las Vegas hit-and-run

North Las Vegas police identified the person accused of hitting and killing a teenage pedestrian before driving away from the scene Tuesday. Police arrested Anthony Lauria, 28, in connection to an incident that took place on North 5th Street near Lone Mountain Road. According to police, the crash happened at 12:20 p.m. when a black Ford Fusion was traveling northbound on 5th Street and left the roadway. Lauria, who was identified as the driver, was taken into custody without incident. Lauria was booked on felony counts of driving under the influence resulting in death and duty to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death.

She is 16-year-old Bobbie Grayson of North Las Vegas, staff said Wednesday morning. Lauria fled in his black Ford Fusion, North Las Vegas police spokesman officer Aaron Patty said, then he jumped out of his car and ran away. Police said Lauria was northbound on North 5th Street, just south of Lone Mountain Road, when he veered out of his lane and hit Bobbie at 12:20 p.m. Officers quickly found the car and Lauria in a nearby neighborhood, and he was arrested without incident. Police said she was walking northbound in the gutter area against the sidewalk when Lauria slammed into her back.

Police in North Las Vegas said the girl was walking on the side of North 5th Street when a black Ford Fusion veered in her path. Grayson was identified Wednesday as the person who was fatally struck along a North Las Vegas roadway just the day before. She was hit from behind and sent into the air, said the girl's father Bobbie Grayson Sr. The family of Bobbie Grayson displayed photographs of the teen after her death on Nov. 24, 2015. (FOX5) Bobbie Grayson was looking forward to helping cook Thanksgiving dinner for her family on Thursday. On Wednesday night, the family planned to be at the spot where Bobbie was killed for a vigil in her memory.
