Driver dies after pulling car in front of Amtrak

 Passengers on an Amtrak train from Chicago to San Francisco were delayed after an a car pulled onto the tracks resulting in a collision that killed the car's driver.

Equipment had to be called out to remove the Buick sedan from where it was imbedded in the front of the train.

The California Zephyr was headed west toward Elko around 2:30 a.m. when it struck the car outside of Wells. 
A California Zephyr train was headed west toward Elko around 2:30 a.m. when it struck a car at a crossing on private land, approximately a mile north of Interstate 80. The driver of the car, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the car. No train passengers or crew were injured. We'll update this story as more details emerge.
