A 64-year-old Mahwah man faces charges of assault by auto while driving drunk in a crash that left a bicyclist in critical condition, authorities said Wednesday.
Thomas Rinaldi, 64, was driving a pickup truck south on Ramapo Valley Road when he cut into oncoming traffic and hit Perez head-on. Perez fell from the bike and hit his head and was rushed to a local hospital. Rinaldi was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash.
