Russell Banasiak, 43, dies in single vehicle accident in Howell, New Jersey

Authorities: N.J. man killed in single-vehicle crash

Banasiak had left his girlfriend's home in nearby Jackson Township shortly before the crash occurred around 12:15 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Middlesex County man dead after single-car crash in Howell

Nearby residents and passing drivers called 9-1-1 to report the crash, police said. Officers Daniel Murphy and Heather Scherbinski were first to arrive on the scene and began CPR and gave him shocks from a defibrillator, police said.

Russell Banasiak had just left his girlfriend's home and was driving on Fort Plains Road when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. He was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead. Authorities are unsure what caused the accident.
