Authorities believe the pilot of a single-engine plane was trying to reach an airport in dense fog and rain when the aircraft crashed on a wooded hilltop near the Delaware River in New Jersey.
The pilot, 71-year-old Joseph Borin of Readington Township, died in the crash. He was the only person on board.
The Hunterdon County Prosecutor says people reported hearing what sounded like a plane crash around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
