Three children injured in Andover school bus accident

The township fire department responded and prevented fluids that had leaked from the vehicles from entering a nearby storm drain, police said.

Three children were injured when a Kia Sport, driven by Allison A Luke, 39, of Ogdensburg, ran a red light and crashed into a 2006 First Student School Bus at the intersection of Newton-Sparta Road and Limecrest Road. Police began getting calls at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday. There were 29 children on the bus from Long Pond Middle School and the Florence M. Burd School of the Andover Regional District. August D’Angelo, 58, of Andover Twp., was driving the bus. Luke ran a red traffic signal and “T-boned” the bus just in front of the rear axle. The impact of the crash disabled the bus by breaking the rear axle. Luke’s car sustained heavy front end damage. Three of the children were treated at the scene for minor injuries though all of the children were checked out by the Lakeland Emergency Squad. Luke was taken to Newton Medical Center receive treatment for injuries.
