Police in Camden County are investigating a series of crashes that left one man dead and police searching for a hit-and-run driver. It all began shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday on the Admiral Wilson Boulevard near Lee Avenue in Pennsauken. According to investigators, Victor Gutierrez, 31, was struck and killed by a white van. The driver of that van, Ronale Thomas of Brockton Massachusetts, got out of the vehicle to check on Gutierrez, police say, but was hit by another car. The driver of that car fled the scene. Pennsauken police said the only description of the striking vehicle they have so far is that it may be a silver 2002 to 2006 Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable. Investigators say that clue came from a broken passenger-side mirror found at the scene. As for Thomas, he survived but was rushed to the hospital with multiple injuries including a broken ankle, broken leg and a head injury. Sources tell Action News he worked for a private medical company out of Massachusetts and had just made a delivery of blood to the nearby Red Cross.
