Francis Duffy 19, killed, driver Conner Hanfin in critical condition after their car runs stop sign and crashes into tree.

Police say a 19-year-old died in a New Jersey car accident when the car he was a passenger in ran a stop sign, jumped a curb and hit a tree.

Francis Duffy was in the passenger seat of a car being driven by Conner Hanfin in Toms River when the accident happened at around 1:36 p.m. Friday.

Hanfin, who is in critical condition, ran the stop sign and crashed into the tree on Yellowbank Road near Vaughn Avenue.

Officials say they don't know if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
